In Meath you will find superb game, coarse and sea angling that will satisfy the novice and experienced angler alike. Game angling is available on the river Boyne as well as a number of lakes. Sea anglers can fish off the coast of Meath from Clougherhead to Laytown.
The river Boyne which runs for 70 miles has extensive stocks of wild brown trout and has a good run of salmon and sea trout in summer and autumn.
One of Ireland's longest established coarse angling clubs, the Royal Enfield Angling Club is based on a stretch of canal from Kilcock to Ballasport which lies in the Eastern Regional Fisheries Board area. The club organises a number of events annually including a 2 day international festival held in June, usually followed by the Edenderry 3 day festival. It also organises monthly open competitions as well as junior summer and winter and six match winter league.
