Children's Play                                                                     

There are many public parks for children in Navan and the surrounding areas. For those wet days there is an excellent indoor play facility in Navan.

Seaside                                                                                 

The beaches at Laytown and Bettystown are about 30 mins drive away to the East and provide miles of sandy beaches. Laytown is also home to the annual Laytown horseraces.

Swimming

There is a public pool at Navan with a very well equipped gym, and an aquatic centre at Blanchardstown (built especially for the Special Olympics in 2003). New for 2009 is Funtasia in Drogheda which has a pool, bowling, climbing wall and high wire adventure trail.

Archery and Fishing    

Open Farms

Red Mountain Open Farm offers all weather entertainment for children young and old.                                                      

Situated at Rathbeggan Lakes (5 miles), there is fly and coarse fishing, a play area and supervised archery. During the summer there are also family days with BBQ's and music

Zoos

Grove gardens near Kells has a collection of birds and small animals. The national zoo is in the Pheonix Park (25 mins). This park is one of the largest city parks in Europe and is home to our president, herds of deer, polo and cricket fields and miles of walking and cycle paths.

Pitch and Putt                                                                       

Less than 2 miles from Decoy Country Cottages, overlooked by Skryne castle and looking across  to the Hill of Tara. Stunning views for miles from this 18 hole pitch and put course. Also situated besides the famous O'Connell's pub (featured in Guinness Ad)

Less than 2 miles from Decoy Country Cottages, this brand new facility is set in beautiful countryside.

Solstice Arts Centre                                                            

Situated in the centre of Navan beside the Library, this new facility, built in 2006, provides a state of the art facility for theatre and music alike.

Shopping centres in Navan, Blanchardstown and Drogheda provide plenty of choice for those dedicated followers of fashion.
